GURU ON LOVE CRUISE: Singles
Should “Bail Out” on the Show’s Advice
DATELINE: HINGHAM,
MA, ISSUED SEPTEMBER 24, 2001… Romantic trysts. Intimate
“soap opera” style revelations. Betrayal. It all sounds good and may pique viewers, but can FOX TV
25’s new “Love Cruise: The Maiden Voyage” truly be
deemed a Reality Show?
Is this show a representation of today’s dating
scene? Reality
Check
After taking a peek at FOX’s latest television show and a
few of its critics’ reviews, dating guru and owner of the
world’s largest dating service, Paul Falzone, CEO for The
Right One and Together Dating Service reminds us that dating
is a far cry from what we view on TV. Believing that love at first sight does exist, Falzone gently
reminds audiences that love needs to be in an original
environment. Pairing
eight single men and eight single women on a cruise in a
“Fantasy Island” Caribbean setting with no outside
influences or everyday pressures is a stretch on real life.
Playing truth or dare games, switching partners,
deceiving each other and exhibiting inordinate fits of
jealousy are just a few nuances that viewers should take
with a grain of salt. Additionally,
if the only goal is relationship “survival” (at least
until the end of the series) in order to win a monetary
prize and vacation package, how realistic can the show be?
What are chances that the winning couple’s
“romance” will last beyond the final take?
Highly unlikely. Falzone points out the three key elements for relationship
survival: ·
Chemistry.
No matter how great the match or friendship is,
chemistry cannot be created, it must already exist. ·
Compatibility.
A relationship cannot be based purely on chemistry.
People must be compatible with each other.
They need to be able to talk with each other, share
thoughts or feelings, respect one another. ·
Timing.
There’s no doubt about it.
Timing is everything.
Single people can say they are looking for love, but
are they really? Do
they really want a commitment or are they just looking for
someone to date but not get too involved?
It all depends on people’s circumstances and
feelings about relationships at certain times. “In unrealistic circumstances, just about anyone can
believe they have fallen in love.
Life’s everyday struggles and triumphs are the test
of a true relationship.
Real love is grounded in reality,” noted Falzone. High
Tech Cupid
At The Right One, romance is facilitated by twenty-first
century technology. A team of relationship experts works one
on one with members using a proprietary computer hardware
and software system. Developed over several years at a cost
of hundreds of thousands of dollars, this system targets
compatibility profiles and generates a specialized list of
compatible referrals for members. Unlike other services, The Right One does not engage in any
high-pressure sales tactics while striving to provide a
comfortable atmosphere for all clients.
Each new client undergoes a criminal background check
to insure that all who join The Right One feel secure that
they are being matched up with quality individuals.
Personality profiles are also required to ensure compatible
matches. Romance
